Joop Vegter

Joop Vegter (1931-2017) was one of Netherland's best-known printmakers. He was tasked with setting up a graphic arts department when he was hired in 1968 by the Academie voor Beeldende Vorming in Amersfoort. While he taught students in all manner of printmaking techniques, he turned his personal attention to that of mezzotint. He quickly became a master in color mezzotint creation, focusing mostly on still-life compositions in bright colors against dark backgrounds. He published a book on the technique in Dutch in 1998. His exact output is unknown, but he is thought to have created at least between 125 and 150 color mezzotints
